Default The US is a meritocracy now

After all, there's no Jim Crow anymore.

To be, or not to be, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them.

"We don't have control over their home situation". Exactly. That's the key site where social reproduction of inequality happens, and it's by coincidence one of the sites the state does not involve itself with unless it gets really out of hand (e.g., child protective services).

To be, or not to be, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them.
